A BAR TRASH Collab! Censor (2021) at Genesis Cinema
Can you forgive us for abandoning your inboxes dear Zodiophiles? Alas, we were suffering quite the creative burnout and needed some time to heal.
Still mad? Wait til you see what we’ve got in store for you. Scorpio season has lured us out from under our rocks with a new screening announcement and new merch!
We are quite figuratively wetting ourselves with excitement to announce that we’ve been invited to be guest co-hosts for a charity BAR TRASH screening of Prano Bailey-Bond’s Censor (2021) in aid of Bloody Good Period, a charity that promotes period equity for everyone who bleeds.
In this ode to the video nasties era, diligent film censor Enid happens upon a horror movie that feels eerily like a missing piece of her own past. Haunted by her sister’s long-ago disappearance, Enid dives deep into Britain’s grimiest video nasties to unearth the truth—and protect the public from the so-called dangers of the horror genre. A film for eldest sisters and anyone who’s ever felt the dark, unspoken stab of sibling rivalry… and also those get really nostalgic for VHS.
If you haven’t been to BAR TRASH yet, well honestly, can you even call yourself a film babe1? BAR TRASH is a weekly celebration of cult and curious cinema, featuring badly-behaved movies, friendly film chat and prize giveaways, all served with love and themed drinks. This season is all about Video Nasties, with Censor providing a mid-season meta-commentary. Since Bloody Good Period is a bloody good cause, we’ll also be bringing a bag of Zodiac tricks to thank you for your generosity, including a live version of one of our signature teen-magazine quizzes.
